HOMEPAGE WIDGETS

As an administrator, you have the ability to set up and configure the Learnt homepage using the available homepage widgets. Homepage widgets are being developed and released by the team on a regular basis and you can currently choose from:

• Carousel slider
• Latest Courses
• Latest Bundles
• Latest Resources
• Latest Learning Pathways
• Activity Heat Map
• Events
• Instagram

The administrator configures the contents of the carousel slider. For all of the other “Latest..” widgets, the learner will see the 10 most recently permitted items. This means that learners may see different content on their homepage, if content has been permitted using varying permission rules (see permissions for more details).

To set up the homepage of your Learnt platform:

1. Using the side navigation menu, navigate to ADMIN > SETTINGS > HOMEPAGE EDITOR

The right hand side of the page displays a preview of the homepage widgets that have been enabled. You can utilise the device option at the top of the screen to switch between desktop and responsive modes.

The left hand side of the page displays the currently utilised widgets. Here, you can:

• Click on a widget item to edit it
• Click and hold the 6 dots on the left of a widget, allowing you to drag and drop to re-order the widgets position on the homepage.
• Click the eye icon to show/hide the widget from view
• Delete the widget using the trash icon

2. To create a new widget, click the ADD A HOMEPAGE SECTION button.

3. Provide a widget title, and select from one of the available widget options, then click ADD.

4. Clicking ADD will load up the widget options. Depending on the widget you chose, the available options may slightly differ.

5. For a carousel, provide the desired background colour, and click ADD NEW ITEMS to introduce a slide to the carousel. Courses, resources etc have less available options, as the content gets automatically populated based on content permissions.

6. Provide each of the field details, colour requirements, and upload the thumbnail and hero image. Note that the dimensions do not need to match those that are listed, but the ratio should remain the same. Depending on the images used, you may need to test different sizes in order to display the desired target area of the image.

7. Click ADD NEW ITEM and repeat the above step until all desired slides have been added.

8. Click SAVE CHANGES to save the slides to the database. The widget editor may close after saving

9. Reopen the widget editor, and click the PERMISSIONS tab

10. Click the PLUS (+) icon to add a permission rule.

11. Expand the permission accordion, and enter the desired field options to set up your rule. Remember: Combining different fields represent an AND relationship. For example, if you select a role, position, and a loc value, you are saying, that a learner can only see this widget IF their “roles” = X AND “position” = Y AND “loc1” = Z. To add additional rules, click the PLUS icon again to add additional rules.

12. Once the rule(s) have been set up, click APPLY PERMISSIONS to propagate the widget to the appropriate learners.

13. Repeat this for all desired widgets.

NOTE: To set up an Instagram widget, please contact your Learnt Account Manager or Administrator as there are some additional security steps required.
