  What are Learning Pathways?

Learning pathways give administrators the ability to create organised educational programs by defining course structures, prerequisites, and timeframes that are tailored to individual onboarding or permission dates. By following this step-by-step guide, you can simplify the learning experience, ensuring timely and targeted delivery of knowledge to your workforce. Whether you are new to this concept or looking to optimise your existing programs, you can discover how learning pathways can improve your organisation's training effectiveness and empower your teams for success.

Step 1: Add a New Learning Pathway

Navigate to Admin Learning Pathways on the side navigation menu under Admin → Admin Learning Pathways.

This page displays all learning pathways created on the platform, showing the title, publish status, and creation date. To create a new learning pathway, select the 'Add New Learning Pathway' button on the top right corner of the page.

Step 2: Add Details of Learning Pathway

Once selected, you will be prompted to complete the details page for the new learning pathway. This includes:

  1. Name: Title of learning pathway.
  2. Description: Provide a description of the learning pathway for the learners.
  3. Learning Pathway Type: Define whether the phases, courses, and or/activities need to be completed in a linear order or an order determined by the learner.
  4. Thumbnail: Upload an image that will be displayed to learners on the "My Learning Pathway" page.

Step 3: Create Pathway
Next, navigate to the 'Pathway Content' tab in the top menu bar. Once selected, you will be able to select 'Add Phase'. This will create a container for courses requiring a specific amount of time for completion. For example, in your organisation, you may require all courses in phase 1 to be completed in 4 weeks.

Once selected, you will be prompted to provide the following information:
  1. Title: Provided the title of the phase,
  2. Due in: Provide the value for the counter. T
  3. Counter Type: Provide the value for the counter define the counter type (eg days weeks or months)

Once the information has been provided, you can then select 'ADD' to save the phase.

When a learner is allocated a pathway, the counter starts counting down for them. This ensures that both existing users and new starters have the same timeframe to complete it. For subsequent phases, the counter starts following the due date of the previous phase.

If you need to edit the phase after saving, select the menu on the right-hand side to edit or delete.

Step 4: Add Courses

After successfully creating a pathway, the next step is to populate it with relevant courses for the learner to complete. Simply navigate to the designated pathway and click on 'Add Courses' to proceed.

Afterward, a prompt will guide you to choose a course from the dropdown menu. Keep in mind that you can expedite the process by typing the course name directly into the search bar. Once you've made your selection, click 'ADD' to proceed.

Repeat Steps 3 & 4 until all phases and courses have been added, then click 'SAVE'.

Step 5: Add Permissions and Publish Pathway
Once you've saved the learning pathway, manage access by assigning permissions and selecting learners. Navigate to the 'Permissions' tab in the top menu bar. To add permissions, click the '+' icon and select the desired permission group.

The permission details will be based on the user profile fields which are set up during your onboarding. If you have any questions regarding the profile fields, please feel free to contact our helpdesk. To proceed, please select the values from the desired profile fields.

If you want to create another set of permissions, click the + button and repeat the previous step for the new accordion item. Once you’re done, select the ‘Apply Permissions’ button.

Please note, permissions within a single accordion operate in an AND relationship. For instance, learners must meet both LOC1 and POSITION criteria to access the course. However, when you add multiple permission accordion tabs, they function in an OR relationship. For example, if you set LOC1 = "Sydney" in the first tab and then, by clicking the + button, add POSITION = Sales Manager in the second tab, it implies that learners with either a LOC1 value of Sydney OR a position of Sales Manager will have access to the course.

The final step is to click SAVE AND PUBLISH to push the course out to the permitted users. Once completed, your course is now live and ready to go.
